The first painting/print, in my MAD Travels collection (the original has sold). But I do have travel poster prints available HERE.
Last spring I spent the weekend in Tahoe with my daughter Aroon and her boyfriend. Aroon still lives in Miami, but her boyfriend lives in Reno, so they travel back and forth to see each other. Because I live in my van now, and was in CA at the time, it was super easy just to drive up and see her while she was on this side of the country. Loving all the flexibility van life gives me!
We of course HAD to visit Lake Tahoe, and the day prior to that we did a tree top obstacle course, my first time, and it was soooo hard and scary, haha, but I would do it again. Lake Tahoe was everything I hoped it would be, and as I remembered it from my visit there years ago when I was 13.
The colors were just so unbelievably rich and vibrant, I just couldn't NOT paint it. I don't normally paint art based off a particular place, or scene, but I had to capture Lake Tahoe in a painting. Of course, my art isn’t at all realistic in style or colors, so this is just my artistic interpretation of the beautiful scenes of the lake. It was a bit of a struggle at first, between painting the way I do and trying to capture the essence of what I was inspired by. I almost threw in the towel, but told myself to give the painting a chance, and I’m Sooooo happy I did! I just love this painting, and it truly personifies the beauty of Lake Tahoe for me. When I look at the painting I get taken back to my trip there and love that I have forever captured those memories in a painting.
